6 rules for those who don’t want to spend more than an hour on a manicure. The master tells

The speed of manicure is a hot topic for modern girls. Gone are the days when beauty lovers spent 5-6 hours getting their nails done. However, for many, even an average of two hours for a manicure with gel polish is already a disaster. There are, of course, master craftsmen, there are capricious colors and complex designs, and, ultimately, there are equipment breakdowns, but a significant part of the delays in the procedure is the client’s responsibility. Yes Yes! So keep feedback from the master and put the advice into practice - your master will thank you!

The simplest idea in terms of speeding up is to find “your” master. A new master needs time to analyze the condition of the skin and nails and adapt the work technique to your hands. It is important for you to understand the technical capabilities, for example, in terms of manicure design according to the shape of the nails, and this all takes time.

It’s much faster to come to your friend’s house, ask for tea, hand over your pens and say: “As usual, you know!”

How to quickly dry varnish at home using improvised means?

It is believed that varnish dries faster in cold water. This is true. But it would be wrong to hold your nails under the tap. With strong water pressure, the varnish can be smeared, and then the attempt to quickly fix a fresh manicure will fail. Therefore, it is better to collect water in a small container and put your hands in it.

Who would have thought that oils could help varnish dry quickly? Not only manicure ones in special bottles, but also regular ones - those that are at hand: for example, olive oil. Apply a drop of this oil to each nail to speed up the drying process. This will also protect against varnish smudging. And also - the opportunity to provide both nails and the skin around with additional hydration and nutrition.

Do not over-wear the coating

A lot of time is lost here on correction, especially in cases where the coating has been worn for 6 or more weeks. The architecture, carefully built during alignment, moves away, the growth points of the nail plate open (the corners where the nail bed meets the free edge), the length of the nail begins to work like a lever and oh... Removal of detachments, repair of cracks, or even extension of what can be saved is required it is forbidden.

Decide with your nail technician what the wearing limit for your nails is and don’t break it. It will be easier for everyone. Also, learn 6 tips to make your manicure last longer.

Cost of manicure

A manicure with gel polish costs from 500 to 3000 rubles from different masters. But where does such a range of prices come from? Let's figure it out.

Manicure from a specialist: cheap

The low cost of the service is always due to the following factors:

  • the master is a beginner and is gaining experience, attracting with the price;
  • there is a promotion going on in the beauty salon;
  • the master uses cheap and low-quality materials.

There are also craftswomen who work from home. Their services usually cost around 700-800 rubles. But there is a danger here: such “handicraftsmen” do not always follow the rules of instrument hygiene. A client blinded by profit can become infected with fungus, hepatitis and other diseases through unsterile equipment.

Manicure from a specialist: expensive

Ideally, the high cost (2000-3000 rubles) of a manicure in a salon is due to the highest qualifications of the master and the use of premium quality materials. But, unfortunately, this does not always happen, and the girl leaves the salon with a streaky coating that runs under the cuticle.

What to do? And it is undesirable to go to “cheap” masters, and “expensive” ones may not live up to expectations. We recommend going to trusted professionals whose reputation is confirmed by numerous reviews and examples of work.

Do-it-yourself manicure: starter package and its cost

Recently, girls are increasingly buying lamps and materials for doing their own manicure. Firstly, “if you want it done well, do it yourself,” and secondly, it will save both time and money. What is required for the starter package and how quickly will it pay for itself?

So, let's count. In order to start doing manicure at home yourself, we will need approximately

3,740 rubles. A little more expensive than one trip to a premium salon. Tools and materials will last for a long time; you only need to purchase additional color coatings or design elements (optional).
The starter package will last for at least six months, taking into account the fact that you will do a manicure once every 2 weeks. So, in this case, the cost of a self-manicure with gel polishes turns out to be approximately

Do not remove the coating yourself and do not give yourself a “manicure before a manicure”

Clients who work a lot with their hands, actively come into contact with chalk, water and detergents, are faced with the fact that the coating is still alive at the time of correction, and the skin around the nails looks as if it was chewed and spat out. In order not to “scare the master” (and what, I wonder, didn’t we see there?), they cut off all the fluff with blunt nippers... And in fact, the whole thing has to be corrected for painful abrasions, or even open wounds. It’s a huge waste of time, it’s also painful, and due to bruising, the new coating can easily peel off. Do not do it this way!

Taking care of the master in the style of “I removed it myself to make it faster for you” looks even nicer. Correct answer: it won’t be faster, but tearing off the old coating risks the fact that the master may refuse you a new one. And not out of harm, but because the base simply adheres disgustingly to the soft layers of the nail and the gel polish will not be worn.

Below we present the traditional stages of manicure and the average time spent on them:

  • if necessary: removal of the previous coating, which is affected by its layer, solubility, solvent quality, “age”. Usually the top is cut off before soaking (5-10 minutes), then the remaining material is removed. The complete removal process takes from 15 to 30 minutes;
  • complete preparation of nails with treatment of the cuticle and pterygium - at least 30-40 minutes;
  • applying the base - 5-10 minutes;
  • drying the base in a lamp - from 30 seconds to two minutes (depending on the type and power of the device used);
  • applying gel polish to the nails of both hands - 5-10 minutes;
  • drying the color coating - 30 seconds-2 minutes;
  • applying the second layer of color - 5-10 minutes;
  • applying top coat and drying - all together for 5-10 minutes;
  • removing the sticky layer - 1-2 minutes;
  • treatment of cuticle with oil - 1-2 minutes.

On average, the total duration of the procedure is an hour or two. If the work is performed by a professional (and uses a “high-speed” lamp), it usually lasts no more than an hour, provided that the master does not create super complex decor. Usually, the most time is spent on hand painting and design with rhinestones, but using sliders or film can reduce the duration of a manicure.

Do-it-yourself manicure at home

If you do a manicure at home yourself, the time spent on the process increases by 1.5-2 times. Because, for example, while the nails of one hand are drying in the lamp, the master uses this period to paint the nails of the second hand. When we create beauty alone, it is, of course, impossible to do this.

Manicure with regular polish

If we use traditional varnish (not shellac), then the duration of the manicure is longer, since if drying gel polish takes a maximum (!) 2 minutes, then drying regular polish (including base and top) takes up to five minutes. Let's add this time to the list above.

What if you get nail extensions?

If you build it up, then add about 4 minutes per nail to the announced total time (40 minutes in total). During this time, a professional usually removes the old coating, adjusts the length, arch and gives the final shape. Of course, the time increases if the nails are problematic and require additional treatment.

Decide on color and design in advance

It is ideal if you send the master a picture of what you want in advance. This will give you the opportunity to get your bearings in advance and set the time for the work to be completed. This is critical if you have no idea how and how much the chosen design is made. For example, symmetrical geometry in the style of stained glass, with colored filling of the elements, visually seems simple, and it takes about 30 minutes to do for two nails.

If you come with no ideas, start choosing a color while the artist removes the coating. This way you will have time to play around and rotate the palette. Otherwise, when choosing a color and design after a manicure, you risk significantly delaying the procedure, especially if quick decisions are not your thing.

You can see the options, for example, here: Office manicure: inspiring design options for oval nails.

Do not talk on the phone while applying gel polish

There are several slowing factors here. Firstly, you cannot provide the master with a hand to work with in time. Secondly, when you put the phone to your ear, you catch lint from clothing and hairs on the base or color. In a good situation, the master can erase the sticky layer, but in a bad situation (if the material does not allow it), he will have to remove and redo it. If you really need to make a call, put on a headset in advance and answer the call comfortably.

Here's how to make the master's work easier: Manicure according to the shape of your nails: choosing your ideal design

How to remove gel polish yourself?

No matter how much you would like it, the coating cannot be peeled off the nail. It can come off along with the nail plate, disfiguring the finger for a long time.

Old varnish must be removed as follows:

  • buff the top layer of varnish;
  • make nail pads out of cotton pads, soak them in acetone and place them on the nail plates;
  • wrap the tops of your fingers with foil and wait 20 minutes;
  • Carefully remove the “clothes” from your fingers.

If necessary, the procedure can be repeated. At the same time, try not to get the acetone on your skin. After removal, you should moisturize your hands.

Follow the master’s requests regarding the nuances of the procedure

If the master asks you not to touch your hair and face with your hands after degreasing your nails, this is not a whim, but a condition for high-quality adhesion of the material. If you ignore it, you'll have to redo it. If the master asks you to place your hand in the lamp, you should not admire the undried color, otherwise it will flow and you will have to cut out the jamb.

And yes, if you feel that you touched something with your nail when you put your hand in the lamp, it is better to immediately show the nail to the nail technician rather than dry it. The problem will not magically disappear, but a dry nail is much easier to fix.
