Master class - volumetric inlay with rhinestones on gel polish

Shimmer shadows and lip glosses, foundations and primers with a radiant effect - shiny makeup does not lose ground. It’s the same story with manicure: after many years of oblivion, pearlescent and glitter varnishes have returned to our cosmetic bags. And after models from the latest shows at Gucci, House of Holland and Plein took to the catwalk with their nails strewn with large shiny stones, it became clear: the ban on rhinestones has been lifted. In this article we discuss the most interesting manicure ideas with rhinestones for those who keep up with trends.

Manicure with rhinestones-2021-2022

Circular stroke, matte background and other fashionable ideas for manicure with rhinestones for 2021-2022.

Summer manicure

In the cold season, we choose darker and more inconspicuous shades of varnish, but in the summer there is no reason to deny ourselves a bright manicure. Varnishes of the richest colors - fiery red, yellow, scarlet - combine with inlay with rhinestones. Add one rhinestone to each nail at the very hole, scatter shiny stones throughout the nail plate or lay out an abstract pattern from them: the more intricate the nail art, the better! Use the same techniques for spring manicure.

Autumn manicure

Burgundy, brick, olive, pear - this is what the classic autumn palette looks like. But if you want something more interesting, use unusual textures (for example, matte varnish) and rhinestones for a traditional autumn manicure. A new trend is to “circle” the nail with rhinestones or lay them out in a line across the nail. From a distance it will seem that there is a ring on the upper phalanx of the finger - and this is another important trend!

How to attach rhinestones to gel polish: option No. 1

What you will need:

  • primer
  • buff
  • base
  • colored gel polish (optional)
  • gel polish with glitter
  • top without sticky layer
  • top with sticky layer
  • large rhinestones, pearls, broths
  • wax pencil
  • thin brush
  • Cleanser and lint-free wipes

Use a pusher to push back the cuticles and remove the gloss from your nails using a buff.

Apply primer and wait until completely dry. Cover with base, sealing ends. Polymerize. Cover with one layer of colored gel polish and polymerize. Next, apply a thin layer of gel polish with shimmering sparkles and also send it to the lamp.

Cover with a topcoat without a sticky layer and start inlaying with rhinestones. First, attach large rhinestones using a wax pencil, then attach small rhinestones and pearls in a chaotic manner. Keep in mind that all actions are carried out quickly, since a top without a sticky layer is used and decorative elements may slide off.

Fill the gaps with broth. Dip the brush into the top without a sticky layer, grab a small amount of broth onto it and transfer it to your nails. Pick up a few pieces at a time, without grabbing a whole row at once.

Dip the brush again into the top without a sticky layer and go over the broths, between them. Be careful not to touch the rhinestones, otherwise you will lose their shine.

Place in a curing lamp. Ready

Manicure with rhinestones for short nails

  • If you have short nails and a not too strict office dress code, rhinestones can be used even in everyday manicure. The main thing is to choose discreet shades of varnishes from the nude range (beige, powdery, dusty pink). And control yourself: two or three miniature rhinestones on several nails will be enough. In this case, you can use not only silver, but also rhinestones of brighter colors to match the clothes.

  • Well, if you have a well-deserved vacation or day off, you can go all out. Combine rhinestones on your nails with rich shades of varnish, arrange sparkles in fancy patterns and complement them with nail art. On short nails, even an abundance of glitter will not look provocative. Provided that you choose clothes of calm colors and textures: no leopard leggings!

How to properly attach rhinestones

It is recommended to attach rhinestones to nails with a top coat. Additionally, they can be fixed with whatever they were planted on, but the final layer should still be a top layer. How to choose the right topcoat? Let's look into this issue.

Top coating

It is better to fix small rhinestones and bouillons with liquid topcoat. Your material should flow into all the spaces between the pebbles.

It is important to choose topcoats that do not spread when applied in 2 layers, otherwise the rhinestones will flow down along with the topcoat. A top coat without a dispersion layer works well when working with such mini-jewelry.

There are a number of advantages: the stickiness does not need to be removed from the nails, it does not remain in small folds, and the design does not become clogged with dust. In order to secure larger rhinestones, it is necessary to make a special edge around the stone. For this case, a thicker rubber top is suitable.

Acrylic Powder

Top coat and acrylic powder can only work in tandem. If in your nail design with rhinestones you use stone inlay with the indescribable sparkle of small grains of sand, then this little life hack is especially for you. The technique is quite simple:

  1. Cover the prepared nails with the design with top coat.
  2. Place several rhinestones on the wet layer.
  3. Cover the glass and the rest of the space with a thick layer of acrylic powder. The rhinestones should sit deep in it.
  4. After drying, the stones on your nails will stick very tightly!

Gel paste

Another alternative method of “planting” rhinestones on a nail is a gel paste. The peculiarity of this material is that it has a fairly thick consistency, does not self-level and dries well in volume. Attaching rhinestones for nails is quite simple:

  1. Apply the gel paste pointwise onto the prepared colored surface with a thin brush.
  2. Place the beads on the gel paste and drown them well in it to form a small side.
  3. After drying, the rhinestones will adhere firmly to the nails.

Broths

This effective and original way of attaching rhinestones to nails will appeal more to those girls who like to lay out entire compositions. It is recommended to frame one large stone with several broths. This can be 4 small bouillons that imitate expensive jewelry or a cut around the entire perimeter of the stone. All that remains is to walk with the top around the large rhinestone and completely coat the area around it with the top.

Manicure with rhinestones for long nails

Modern fashion is very tolerant, and long, pointed nails studded with rhinestones, sparkles and kamifubiks do not raise eyebrows either on the catwalk or beyond. But if you don’t have a goal to create a shocking image, take a closer look at the following manicure options.

  • Separate the tip of the nail with white polish using the classic French manicure technique and glue several small rhinestones diagonally. Feminine, unusual, aesthetic.

  • The coating, which from a distance resembles either the surface of a disco ball or fish scales, is perfect for a holiday manicure. Shine like that!

  • A bright manicure with rhinestones will not look vulgar on long nails if you carefully choose colors and their combinations. Paint your nails with a deep turquoise polish and glue on some purple rhinestones. Such a manicure automatically moves from the category of provocative to unusual.

© olia_left_nails

  • Pointed long nails are the most difficult; most images with rhinestones turn out to be quite controversial. But if your soul asks for a holiday, try on the image as in the photo below. The combination of deep dark shades with nude and geometric shiny patterns looks noble.

  • The most obvious (but also the most fashionable) way to decorate long nails with rhinestones is to delicately highlight the nail holes with them.

Technology

  1. It is imperative to wait for the varnish to dry completely, otherwise the final design will be blurry and the rhinestones will not last long.
  2. When the first layer has dried, begin applying the second. You can use either colored or clear varnish. It all depends on personal preference.
  3. The second layer is applied one by one to each finger according to the following scheme: paint, attach rhinestones, move on to processing the next finger, repeat the previous manipulations.
  4. Start the procedure with your little finger: apply varnish, take a needle and dip it into the colorless composition so that a small drop forms at the tip. Pull out the needle, bring it to the outside of the rhinestone and hook it, the element will hang on the needle.
  5. Bring it to the nail, apply it to the desired place, press. Since the varnish dries in a short time, you need to act just as quickly. Repeat the steps with each subsequent rhinestone, then move on to the other finger.
  6. When all nail designs are complete, leave to dry for 10-20 minutes. After this period, cover the plate of each nail with a fixative so that the rhinestones last a long time.

In the case of extended nails, it is better to cover the nails with a special gel or adhesive base intended for attaching decorative elements. Removing rhinestones is quite problematic using a liquid that contains acetone. Soak 10 cosmetic swabs in it, secure on each nail with cling film or foil, wait 5-10 minutes. You should not glue rhinestones in large quantities on each nail, such a manicure looks vulgar. Select 1 finger on your hand, which will receive special attention, and decorate all other nails more modestly. When you apply the second coat of varnish, wait half a minute until it partially dries. This is necessary so that the pattern does not smear if your hand suddenly trembles. You can purchase special glue for decorative elements at a nail art store. In this case, the composition is applied to the inside of the rhinestone, then attached to the dried nail plate. A pattern of rhinestones looks beautiful on long nails. Pebbles can be attached to the free edge, imitating a French manicure. There is also an option when rhinestones are attached to the dividing line in the middle of the nail. Use rhinestones that suit your nail length. For example, on a short nail plate, elements of the smallest diameter look beautiful and laconic. Ladies with long nails are recommended to stick larger rhinestones. When choosing the color of rhinestones, give preference to one main shade and two or three additional ones

Do not overload your nails with a lot of bright colors, maintain contrast. An important feature of nail design using rhinestones is that they look beautiful only separately from other elements. For this reason, craftsmen do not recommend gluing stones in combination with sparkles, sequins, and foil. Do not handle the stones until they are completely dry.

If you smear the pattern, you will have to redo the entire pattern. The needle used to attach the rhinestones can be replaced with a toothpick.

Bright manicure with rhinestones: design ideas

Any manicure with rhinestones attracts attention, and a manicure with bright varnish and rhinestones attracts the attention of absolutely everyone. Here are some ideas to help you make the right choice.

Red manicure with rhinestones

Find a “complimentary” red polish that suits your skin color and go with it. If you have short nails, a vertical strip of rhinestones will help to visually lengthen them. If you have an uneven nail plate, paint your nails with a polish with fine shimmer, which will visually hide the flaws, and add a little rhinestones (the key word in this case is a little!). Blue manicure with rhinestones

The best combinations with classic silver rhinestones are blue varnishes from a cold range: cornflower blue, azure, sea green. But if the varnish is a warm blue shade (for example, light sky), the theme will be inlaid with gold sparkles.

Preparation

  1. First you need to remove the dead skin particles around the nails - the cuticle. To do this correctly, make a bath from a decoction of medicinal herbs (brew 40 grams of any plant in 1 liter of boiling water, let it brew, strain). Lower your fingers and wait 20 minutes. After the period has expired, stretch the skin so that the edge of the cuticle is clearly visible. Remove dead particles with nail clippers, moving from both sides.
  2. Sterilize your hands with antiseptic or hydrogen peroxide (can be replaced with Chlorhexidine). Remove the old varnish layer and give the plate the same length and shape. Rhinestones look very beautiful on oval and square nails with soft corners. When processing the free edge, keep the file perpendicular to the plate, otherwise the nails will begin to peel. For these purposes, it is better to use a thin glass file of low abrasiveness.
  3. For better adhesion of the rhinestones to the surface of the plate, polish your nails with a buff. Firstly, you will make it easier to apply the varnish, and secondly, you will get rid of unsightly “waves”. In addition, any coating lasts longer if the nail plate is pre-polished. Cover the surface with healing varnish-strengthener in 1 layer, let it dry.

French manicure with rhinestones

French with rhinestones is the most popular wedding nail look. But there is a place for it in everyday life, keep a few non-obvious ideas.

  • Stick the rhinestones on only one nail, at some distance from each other. From a distance, the sparkles will look like drops of water, and will shimmer under the rays of the sun no worse.

© krisdi_nails

  • Decorate the base of the nail with a “bundle” of rhinestones, but so that the rhinestones do not follow the outline of the nail plate, but are located at an angle.

© krisdi_nails

  • If you have beautiful long nails, highlight the tips of several fingers with sparkling rhinestones. Place a few more similar “lines” at the base of the nails. This manicure perfectly emphasizes the graceful shape of the nails.

  • Make a regular French manicure, but on two nails – the ring and big ones – make the stripe not white, but black. And separate it from the main part of the nail with a row of dark rhinestones.

  • To repeat the look from the photo below, you will need not only colored rhinestones, but also high-quality glitter to match. First, apply glitter to the tip of the nail, let it dry thoroughly, and then glue the rhinestones. It looks as if bright red pollen has been spectacularly scattered across the nails.

  • Another successful example of a bright French jacket with rhinestones. Emphasize the tips with a delicate shimmery magenta-colored polish, while extending the lines along the side surfaces of the nails. Then decorate your nails with small round rhinestones to match.

  • Glue large rhinestones of different shapes on only one nail - but from the heart! Highlight the tips of the remaining nails with silver polish.

Manicure process at home using stones

Home manicure requires care!

The technique of manicure with stones implies a certain algorithm of actions, which, in principle, anyone can master. So what is the sequence of a manicure with rhinestones? It consists of three stages:

  • processing and preparation for nail coating;
  • applying varnishes and drying;
  • decoration with rhinestones.

First, before you start the procedure, think about what exactly you want to see on your nails. In salons this is called nail design, or nail design. Lay out the pebbles and use your imagination.

They must match each other in color and size. Maintain general trends in nail art. It is advisable to take each pebble using tweezers or a toothpick.

For short nails, an abundance of rhinestones is not recommended. Remember that a manicure that is too flashy is not suitable for everyday office work. So let's get started.

First, do a regular manicure: soak your nails in a special product in a bath, file into the desired shape, and treat the cuticles. Then degrease the surface of the nails, apply a special base varnish and dry under a lamp. Next, cover each nail with the base color in two layers and dry it one by one.

And then the most interesting part. We take a thin brush in our hands (these are sold in salons or special stores) and apply a little colorless varnish or glue (as already mentioned, depending on the material of the stones) to those places on the nails where we plan to attach the stones.

We take the pebbles one by one with tweezers and lay them out along the trajectory of the intended pattern.

If you plan to lay the stones in a thin line along the nail, then for convenience you can put a thread, then remove it, and lay the stones evenly on the trace left from it.

Then we cover the nails with a fixative without tint. Don't forget to dry thoroughly

Dark manicure with rhinestones

If you are a fan of dark polishes, then a sea of possibilities opens up before you. A black or gray manicure with rhinestones can look truly luxurious.

Black

  • A white gold necklace with a little black dress is a win-win option that will make you look elegant and feminine in any situation. The same rule works with silver-black manicure: see for yourself.

Nail decor: a variety of shapes and colors

Manicure decorated with rhinestones

The assortment of bright decor is represented by stones of the most unusual shapes, colors and sizes. Thanks to this, small rhinestones are used to create original patterns reminiscent of the night sky, abstract, geometric or floral patterns. You can decorate one nail plate with a large stone - this design looks elegant and bright at the same time, it will suit even a discreet business look.

The size range of rhinestones varies from 0.5 to 4 mm . The shape of the stones can be oval, square, round, drop-shaped or polyhedron. As for the color range, it is represented by two dozen shades: from delicate, transparent to rich, juicy.

If you want your manicure to captivate with sparkle and play of light, use Halogen rhinestones in your manicure. This manicure is an excellent solution for a festive look: under the rays of sunlight, the stones shimmer with all the colors of the rainbow.

Matte manicure with rhinestones

Matte manicure looks most expressive in dark colors - burgundy, black and dark blue. But do not forget that the whole effect will come to naught if the nail plate is not in perfect condition: the matte texture will emphasize all the roughness.

To quickly get your nails in order, follow the tips from our video tutorial below.

Nail preparation

This is an important stage that prepares the basis for nail art.

Hygienic manicure:

  1. Shape your nails.
  2. Tidy up your cuticles.
  3. Degrease the nail plate.
  4. Cover your nails with base.
  5. Paint with varnish of the desired color in two layers.

Rhinestone designs: placement on nails

Do you think that designs made of rhinestones on your nails are too much? We bet! We know of at least four worthy ideas.

Butterfly

The contours of the butterfly wings can be laid out entirely on the nails with rhinestones. Or you can first paint a colorful butterfly with a brush and varnish, and lay out individual elements with rhinestones.

Dragonfly

Follow the same tactics as with the butterfly on your nails. Ask your manicurist to draw an image of a dragonfly on your nails, and then glue rhinestones of different sizes and colors onto the insect’s “head” and “abdomen.”

Rhinestones on teeth

Beautiful rhinestones on teeth in the form of skyes or grills are popular with celebrities and ordinary fashionistas. One stone inlaid into a tooth is a type of aesthetic dentistry. This procedure is inexpensive, but the result looks attractive and pleases its owner for a long time. Grills are a kind of mouth guard made of metal or silicone with rhinestones. Representatives of hip-hop culture and outrageous pop divas love this decoration.

Other nail design ideas with rhinestone inlays

Two more great ideas on how to add rhinestones to your manicure.

Gems

Shiny rhinestones imitating cut diamonds, rubies, sapphires and emeralds are one of the main trends. It is best to use them this way: either carelessly “scatter” them in a chaotic manner over the nail plate, or decorate one nail with a handful of such stones and leave the rest without decoration.

Swarovski rhinestones for nails: distinctive features

The most expensive and high-quality Swarovski rhinestones for nails, made of glass or crystal, are an elegant option for creating a stylish and shining nail decor.

The main difference between Swarovski crystals is that they always have a round shape with a certain number of edges. Such rhinestones are made only from high-quality glass or rock crystal, so you will never buy them cheap.

Thanks to a special technology for processing stones, they shine with a pure and beautiful diamond shine that other rhinestone manufacturers cannot imitate, and each face creates a unique shine. They have rhinestones and a cone shape, which allows them to be installed in extended nails, in which a small hole is first made.

We recommend: How to make a beautiful manicure at home: steps of implementation

The cost of Swarovski crystals is also one of their main properties - it is an expensive pleasure, because jewelry is made from high-quality raw materials, processed using its own patented technology, which gives the stones such a luxurious and elegant shine, sparkling shimmer when light falls on the stones.

You can’t buy original Swarovski rhinestones for nails everywhere, and some types of crystals are generally piece goods.
