How to quickly dry gel polish on nails without a hair dryer, iron, or lamp at home

Types of nail coatings and drying speed

Among the wide variety of nail coatings, the following main types of varnishes can be distinguished:

  • Liquid nail polish is the simplest type of polish and the most common type of coating. An ideal option for those who like to experiment. The liquid consistency allows you to adjust the coating, apply patterns and add decorative elements while drying. It takes 5 to 10 minutes to dry completely and stays on the nails for several days. The advantage of this type is its availability and rich palette.

  • Quick-drying coatings - drying speed is about 1-2 minutes, a very convenient option, it prevents damage to the coating while waiting for the varnish to dry completely. In terms of visual characteristics and durability, such varnishes do not differ from ordinary ones. The positive qualities of quick-drying varnishes include the speed of the procedure and the variety of color palettes. The negative ones are the middle price segment, the appearance of a yellow tint on the coating and the inability to adjust the manicure while drying.

  • Basic colorless coatings are the basis for colored varnish, provide a more uniform coverage of the main tone, protect the nail plate from the effects of colored pigments of the decorative coating, and eliminate the appearance of a yellow tint on the nails. There are moisturizing, leveling and color-correcting base coats. Universal coatings are also popular.

It is important not to forget to apply the base before each manicure.

  • Gel polish is the most practical option. When creating gel polish, the production technologies of gel for nail extensions and regular polish were combined. To dry completely, you only need 2 minutes in a special lamp powered by ultraviolet rays. The coating is strong and lasts up to four weeks, maintaining its original appearance - the main feature and advantage of this varnish. Does not have a negative effect on nails.

  • Hard coating - represented by special stickers that are attached to the nail plate using heat and do not require the use of brushes. A new word in manicure has a wide range of colors and a variety of coating options: French manicure, flower designs and much more. The advantage of this option is ease of use, safety and harmlessness to nails. Ideal when you need a quick manicure at home.
  • Fixer is a varnish that is used to improve the quality of the coating, helps to preserve the manicure in its original form for a longer period of time, and provides a deeper tone with a glossy shine. The benefits also include protecting the nail plate from the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation and other environmental influences.

Gel polishes

Today, gel polishes that do not need to be dried under a UV lamp are in demand and popular; they themselves dry perfectly under the influence of simple sunlight. Yes, this is actually an innovative generation of new coatings that last quite a long time, shimmer with gloss and dry without a lamp. And yet, in terms of reliability, they are inferior to the same classic gel polish, although in many ways they are better in terms of performance than the classic analogue. As a rule, such a coating pleases a woman for up to a week; the result is quite good for such products!

General recommendations for applying varnishes for accelerated drying

You can learn how to quickly dry nail polish from the tips and basic recommendations of nail art specialists, with the help of which you can significantly speed up the drying process.

They are as follows:

  • The coating should be applied in as thin a layer as possible. The thicker the varnish layer, the longer it will take to dry. If you need to cover your nails in several layers, it is recommended to completely dry one coat and only then apply the next one.
  • On a smooth nail surface, the polish dries faster. Therefore, the nails are first cleaned of the old coating and polished. It is also important to degrease your nails before starting work. Special means are used for this. If this is not the case, you can simply wash your hands with soap.
  • It is recommended to give preference only to high-quality, quick-drying coating. Many modern nail polish manufacturers have series with accelerated drying. Performing a manicure with this varnish requires an increased level of skill; you need to be able to apply the coating quickly and accurately the first time.
  • The lower the concentration of color pigment in the varnish, the faster it dries. The ideal option if time for manicure is limited is a colorless or translucent coating.
  • Varnishes with a thick consistency require more drying time. Do not use old thickened varnishes if you do not have enough time.
  • It is not recommended to apply varnish to wet nails moistened with cream or oils.
  • Using a professional drying product can reduce the time it takes for nail polish to dry to 2-5 minutes.

How long does it take to dry

First, let's figure out how long nail polish should dry. There is no definite answer to this question, since much depends on the composition, consistency and purpose of the product. The fastest drying nail polish is the one that is designed specifically for stamping, since it is designed so that when applying the fixer, the created pattern will not be smudged. This varnish hardens in air in 40-60 seconds. Varnishes in bubbles with thin brushes intended for painting take about the same amount of time to dry.

Keep in mind that “stop sticking” and “completely harden” are two different things. For example, a hardener applied in one layer will set in 2-3 minutes, and will finally dry in 15 minutes - this means that after two minutes the coating will no longer stick to the touch, but will inevitably smear if you start doing household chores within 15 minutes from the moment of its application.

One layer of regular varnish dries completely in about 30 minutes; when applied in several layers, the drying time of the coating can take up to two hours (sometimes more). Shimmers, glitters and varnishes with carotene dry a little faster - in 15-20 minutes (though they are usually applied in one layer).

Cold water

Cold temperatures speed up the drying process of nail polish. One of the most common methods is using cold water. This method is more comfortable to use in the warm season.

How to quickly dry nail polish? The easiest way is to use cold water.

How to quickly dry nail polish using cold water:

  • you need to place your hands in a container of cold water;
  • to ensure the manicure dries completely, just wait about four minutes; you can add ice cubes to the water to enhance the effect;
  • It is not recommended to hold your hands under the tap; there is a possibility of damaging the coating with water pressure.

Is it possible to dry regular nail polish in a lamp?

Does the lamp dry regular nail polish? Unfortunately no. No matter how much we would like this, and this would definitely simplify the entire drying process, it is useless to dry ordinary varnish in this way. Why? In order to answer this question, you need to study the composition of the varnish. You will definitely find a solvent in it. What role does he play? Due to the evaporation of the solvent, the varnish dries. The lamp cannot affect the evaporation processes in any way, and therefore the drying time will not change in any way. Therefore, it is better to be patient and time!

Freezer

The use of the freezer comes in several variations. Before applying the coating, place the varnish in the freezer for 5 minutes. Due to the temperature contrast, the drying time is halved. Cold polish dries in a matter of minutes on a warm nail plate.

After completing the manicure, you can keep your hands in the freezer for a couple of minutes, this way drying your nails will not take much time.

Proven Methods

Using ice water

The varnish dries quickly when exposed to low temperatures - this is a proven method.

  1. Before doing any “emergency” painting, fill a basin with ice water.
  2. Add ice cubes.
  3. Immerse your hands in the prepared water for two to three minutes.

The method is recommended by specialists in the field of manicure, below is a video of testing the method.

Stick your hands in the freezer

Using a freezer can dry your manicure just as well as using ice water. Open the freezer and place your hands in there for a few minutes. It is convenient to use a portable refrigerator; this will protect food from unpleasant odors. Another way is to place a jar of varnish in the refrigerator for twenty minutes, then paint.

Hair dryer

If you don’t have a dryer, you can use a household hair dryer.
Using this device you can easily dry your hair, but no one has canceled it for drying manicure. Set the hairdryer to low temperature and direct the air stream to your hands. The main thing to remember is that warm air softens the structure of the varnish, and cold air promotes drying. Experts do not recommend using this method, as the manicure will fade, turn yellow and peel off.

A thin layer dries faster

If you are in a hurry and don’t have time for a full manicure, apply a thin layer of coating. Thick will not dry completely in three minutes even under the influence of the above methods. Instead of one thick layer, apply two thin ones, allowing each to dry (three minutes apart). At first glance, it seems that this way you will spend more time, but this is a mistaken opinion.

Special coatings

Fixatives are in demand because the varnish underneath dries much faster. Apply varnish, then cover it with a thin layer of sealer. This helps the coating dry and keeps the manicure fresh.

Olive and essential oils

After finishing the manicure, let the coating set, dry slightly and apply a little olive oil to each nail, hold for five minutes and rinse your hands with cold water. This method will give additional shine.

Cooking spray

Typically, cooking spray contains olive oil, which has qualities that help nail polish dry faster.

How to quickly dry nail polish using cooking spray:

  • It is recommended to distribute the oil using a spray on freshly painted nails;
  • the waiting time until the varnish is completely dry is approximately 5 minutes;
  • Wash your hands well to remove any remaining oil on the skin.

This method reduces the drying time of the coating by half.

Professional products

Among the professional products that allow you to quickly dry varnish, there are several. Each of them has undeniable advantages over others. To find out, you should familiarize yourself with express drying products in more detail.

Using varnish

There is a type of manicure product that is a colorless liquid that can quickly dry out your manicure. They are produced like regular varnish - in glass bottles with a special brush. They are applied to painted nails in a thick layer. The time for which hands must be left at rest is indicated by the manufacturer on the bottle. Finding a coating on sale that allows you to quickly dry your nail polish is not difficult - today it is produced as part of many lines of nail care products.

Sprays

They differ from previous products in the form of release - in this case it is an aerosol. A spray spray is much more convenient to use, which does not reduce its effectiveness and also helps to quickly dry the varnish. This product should be used immediately after applying each layer of varnish.

Manicure fan

This is a portable device that allows you to quickly dry your paint using a highly targeted flow of cool air. The principle of operation of the fan is simple - just place your hand in it and wait until the blades of the equipment blow on your nails until they dry completely.

Drying lamps

Lamps are used when using gel polish. But it is important to know that you can quickly dry the varnish using a special ultraviolet lamp only when applying light-curing varnish. This product's composition requires the use of a UV lamp. If gel polish is applied in several layers, then each of them must be dried under a lamp. This is done quite quickly - within 2-3 minutes.

Lamps include fluorescent, gas-light, hybrid and LED lighting. They all differ in terms of service life and amount of energy consumed.

Vegetable oil

To quickly dry your manicure at home, you can use any type of oil available in the kitchen. Most often this is olive or sunflower oil.

The oil is poured into a container, into which hands are lowered one by one. It is also very convenient to use a pipette for this purpose. It turns out to be more economical in oil consumption and you don’t have to completely smear your hands. One drop on each nail is enough to get the desired result.

Many manufacturers produce special fixing oils with a similar principle of action.

Manicure fan

Drying nails with a manicure fan

People have their own “answer” to professionals - several simple ways to speed up the drying of the coating on the nail plate at home. Let's take a closer look at these methods.

Hair dryer

Drying varnish with a hairdryer

A regular hairdryer is a great way to quickly dry the coating at home. To prevent it from being damaged, you need to set the device to the lowest temperature , and then place your hand with a freshly applied coating on it.

Under no circumstances should you use hot air: it can make the polish soft and ruin your manicure. For the same reason, do not dry varnish under a table lamp. Instead of a hairdryer, an air stream from a household fan or air conditioner is also suitable.

Cold water

Cold water is an excellent home remedy for drying nail polish.

Since varnish hardens most quickly when cooled, you can speed up the process by dipping your hands in cold water. To do this, you can let cold water drain from the tap until it becomes icy, or add a few ice cubes (this method is especially good for the summer season).

Hands are carefully immersed in a bath of cold water. no more than 4 minutes for the decor to completely harden in water . You should not hold your hands under the tap: the varnish that has not yet hardened can “move off” under the running water.

Hair fixation spray

Hairspray will dry out your manicure.

Another old and completely reliable method is to spray hairspray on tinted nails . This method will not only help reduce the drying time of the varnish, but will also extend the life of the manicure. Choose a strong hold varnish, then the result will be much more effective.

Vegetable oil

A useful and effective drying method is to apply olive or sunflower oil to the coating. To do this, you need to take the oil into a pipette , then drip the product onto each nail . You need to carefully wash off the oil after 5 minutes . In parallel with fixing the manicure, you can perfectly nourish the cuticle (you need to use cold-pressed oil).

The video will show you how to dry your manicure with oil:

Freezer

In order for the varnish to dry quickly, the bottle with it needs to be placed in the freezer literally 5 minutes . After application, it will dry much faster, and when you combine this method with cooling under a stream of air from a fan, you can enjoy your manicure in just 2-3 minutes.

Vinegar

To dry and fix the nail coating, a minute after applying it, you can rinse your hands in cold water with the addition of vinegar (for 0.5 liters of water - a spoonful of 9% table vinegar). This will also speed up the drying of the decor.

Professional products

Products for quick drying of varnish coatings used by professionals that are quite suitable for home use include:

Drying manicure with a professional product

  • Drying sprays
  • Varnish drying
  • Oil coatings

You can buy these products in professional stores or online stores. The most reliable method is to dry the varnish by applying a special coating on top - varnish drying . In appearance, it is an ordinary transparent varnish that secures the decorative coating. The drying varnish is applied a minute after the main decor in one layer. Drying sprays are a convenient way to quickly dry the coating. Among the sprays there are oil-based and oil-free ones. After applying the polish, you can almost immediately spray your nails with a spray that will dry the coating in 4-5 minutes. Such drying does not make the decor more durable, but it perfectly nourishes the cuticle and skin of the hands.

Oil drying in the form of drops is also very popular. Their principle and procedure of action is the same as that of ordinary edible oil. The product is dripped onto each nail after applying the decorative coating, which makes it dry faster.

If you use oil dryers regularly, they will significantly improve the condition of your nails and the skin around them.

The main feature of spray drying is the beneficial substances included in the composition. The active ingredients of the product have a positive effect on the condition of the nail plate, providing the nails with additional nutrition and care.

Blue lamp

To dry light-sensitive gel polish, you can use a medical blue lamp, which is sometimes used for heating. The only thing is that it will take much longer than when drying using a special method. While the first applied layer is drying, you need to think about its thickness. Sometimes it may seem that the varnish is translucent. In this case, it is worth reapplying. In this case, it should be dried in the same way as the first layer of gel polish. Then you should let the coating dry for 20-30 minutes. Next, lubricate the cuticle with special oil and rub a little near the nail fold. Rubbing will help the natural ingredients absorb into the skin while softening it.

Clear nail polish

  • a special coating is applied to the completed color manicure;
  • The coating dries completely within 5 minutes;
  • the product has fixing functions, the manicure lasts longer and has additional shine;

Clear varnishes

Almost all manufacturers of decorative cosmetics intended for manicure produce special transparent varnishes. When applied, the coating dries much faster.

The well-known American brand Sally Hansen supplies the market with Insta-Dri Anti-Chip Top Coat.

Drying lamps have rich functionality, are convenient and easy to use, even for home use. They are considered the first assistants for coating with gel polish, fixing regular polish and for the final stage of nail extension.

What are the main types of lamps used to quickly dry nail polish:

  1. Lamps using ultraviolet rays are the most practical lamps. Affordable, easy to use and maintain. They do not require large energy costs and are very durable. The main thing is to ensure that the lamp does not overheat and protect it from power surges. It is also important not to use the drying lamp in a room with a temperature below 10 degrees.

Important information about varnishes

Classic coating for the nail plate is the most common and profitable option. It can be purchased at any store. In order not to harm your nails or coating, give preference to popular manufacturers, although their price is several times more expensive. However, this will not affect the intensity of drying in any way - such a coating will dry in up to half an hour, it all depends on the thickness of the applied ball.

ATTENTION! Simple varnish is more affordable, but the coating will also take longer to dry.

A coating that dries quickly speaks for itself. The price of these jars is several times more expensive than classic ones, but drying time will take no more than five minutes. By the way, it is important to apply such a coating to the nail plate as quickly as possible, because it immediately begins to harden immediately after application. It is important not to skimp on effective coatings and buy those that contain UV filter particles so that the ball of varnish does not turn white from the influence of sunlight.

It is important to choose quick-drying coatings from high-quality and trusted companies.

Reinforcing coating. Designed to strengthen and heal the nail plate, and create an additional protective layer, including for the varnish layer. The hardener is often used as a base or base coat, if pigments are added to its composition, the varnish dries in a few minutes and looks optimal on the handles.

Gel polish is very popular and famous in recent years. It is often used not only as a coloring pigment, but also as a means of strengthening the nail plate. Previously, this procedure was carried out in professional beauty salons, but today, having bought varnishes and a special lamp, everything can be safely done at home. True, the procedure itself is not lightning fast, because to create a high-quality coating you need to work in three stages lasting up to 120 minutes.

Shellac is a brilliant and unique invention that can be classified as gel polishes. It stands out for its separate application tactics and practically lightning-fast drying. According to reviews from girls, the coating retains its original appearance for up to a month without losing its brightness or integrity.

What not to do before applying a manicure and during the drying process

Basic tips for a successful manicure and faster drying process:

  • It is not recommended to apply moisturizer to your hands and nails before a manicure. If necessary, you can moisturize the skin several hours before the procedure.
  • While the coating on your nails is drying, there is no need to wave your hands. In this way, it is impossible to speed up the drying process; on the contrary, the uniformity of drying can be disrupted and the coating can be deformed.
  • You cannot continue working with a drying lamp if discomfort and burning sensations appear on the surface of the skin. There is a risk of injury or burns.

To quickly dry nail polish, you need to choose which method will be the most acceptable and convenient. The abundance of available tools will allow you to complete your manicure with your own hands efficiently and effectively, without involving specialists or carrying out expensive procedures.

How to do a manicure without a lamp?

Drying gel polish without a lamp is very easy. It is necessary to thoroughly wash your hands and nails and first apply a strengthening base coat, which will dry within 30 seconds. Then the nails should be covered with a thin layer of gel polish. This is done in a couple of seconds, since the brush of these gel polishes is wide, so the coating is applied evenly. Dries in just three minutes, for greater durability it can be applied one more time. The top layer—fixer (protective layer)—dries in 3 minutes. An excellent manicure is ready, and it will last about 10 days.

The applied coating can be removed with nail polish remover. It is not necessary to have special foil, additional mixtures and solutions to properly remove gel polish from nails.

How to dry regular varnish faster?

Methods that will speed up the drying process of nail polish
As you can see, there are quite a lot of ways that help speed up the drying process of the decorative coating of nails. Each woman decides for herself which method is right for her and is the one she uses most often.

But our girls are very big inventors, so they come up with new ways all the time. Now we will introduce you to a couple more, and you can decide whether they suit you or not.

So:

  • Gun for blowing small parts. Point the gun at the nail and hold it in this position for approximately 3-5 minutes. Under no circumstances should this device be brought very close to the nail plate. This will increase the force of air flow and provoke premature peeling of the varnish.
  • Alcohol-based wet wipes. They must be used before applying a decorative coating to the nail. The substances that they contain will degrease the plate no worse than special products and this will help the varnish dry faster
  • Try combining several methods at once. For example, degrease your nail, apply the polish while it’s cool, and then immediately immerse your hands in ice water. If you do all three manipulations in one step, your nails will dry in just a couple of seconds.

Is it possible to dry regular varnish under a lamp?

Methods for drying regular varnish

  • A lamp can be used as a means of accelerating the drying of nails only if shellac or gel has been applied to the nail plate. Under ultraviolet radiation, a polymerization process occurs and the coating begins to harden and dry very quickly.
  • Ordinary varnish does not need to stimulate polymerization, so using llama to speed up the drying process is pointless. The same can be said about ordinary lamps. They will simply heat the decorative coating, preventing it from hardening
  • In this case, it is best to opt for a high-quality top coat, spray drying, varnish drying, or oil drying. All these products are applied to the nail in a thin layer, which simultaneously stimulates faster drying and acts as protection against mechanical stress.

Tips for preparing your nails for applying polish.

Properly preparing the nail plate means taking the first step towards a durable and beautiful finish. The procedure is easy to perform at home. The whole process consists of several stages:

  1. First you need to remove the old varnish. For this procedure you will need nail polish remover and cotton pads. It is better to choose a product without acetone so as not to dry out your nails.
  2. Treat the cuticle. To do this, it is slightly moved away using wooden orange sticks. For trim manicure you will need special scissors. A hand bath is a good way to soften the skin around your nails. To prepare it, add a couple of drops of essential oil to a mixture of water and sea salt. Commonly used oils are ylang-ylang, orange, lemon, grapefruit, palmarosa or tea tree oil.
  3. Using a nail file, trim the free edge of the nail and give it the desired shape. To ensure the polish lays evenly, lightly sand the surface of the nail using a polishing buff.
  4. Be sure to degrease the nail plate. A special tool is used for this. An alternative to this is boric alcohol. It can be found in any first aid kit.

Why doesn't the varnish dry?

Even when a high-quality varnish was used, and all stages of finishing were carried out according to the rules, it may happen that it will take a long time to dry. The following conditions may contribute to this:

  • The type of varnish product has been chosen incorrectly; for wooden bases it is necessary to select suitable options for the type of wood;
  • The layer will take a long time to dry if dust and other contaminants are left behind during preparation. The preparatory stage must be carried out carefully;
  • Dry the layer under unsuitable temperature and humidity conditions. If the humidity is above 75% and the temperature is below +10 degrees, then the varnish will take longer to dry.

Even when a high-quality varnish was used, and all stages of finishing were carried out according to the rules, it may happen that it will take a long time to dry.
