A modern well-groomed woman is determined by her entire appearance, from the roots of her hair to her toes. Attention must be paid even to those parts of the body that are hidden from prying eyes most of the time. These are the parts of the body that include the toes, which are mostly covered by shoes. But foot care should still include foot treatment, and shellac helps modern fashionistas with this.
If you start caring for your feet while wearing closed shoes, your fingers and feet will soon lose their attractive appearance, and cracks and separations may appear on the nail plates. Therefore, it is so important to do a pedicure at any time of the year and use shellac or similar coatings.

Peculiarities
Shellac appeared in the nail industry a long time ago (more than 10 years ago) and has firmly gained a leading position. This is a modern and very durable nail coating.
Shellac contains:
- Polymers;
- Gel polish;
- Pigment.
Unlike regular varnishes, shellac does not dry on its own in the open air. It requires short drying in a special UV lamp so that the application result is thoroughly fixed. A few years ago, such lamps were only available in beauty salons and private manicurists/pedicurists, as they were expensive.

But now you can find more budget-friendly options for UV lamps, which are usually easy to use and require battery power.
@vse_dly_krasoti__ussur
Shellac pedicure with a colored or plain coating has a noble appearance and is easy to apply. Depending on the amount of pigment in the composition, apply 1-2 layers to consolidate the effect. Between layers of varnish, the nails are dried under a UV lamp.

Which lamp to choose
For your home, there is no need to choose a device with many functions and options. The simplest 9-watt ultraviolet lamp is sufficient, which is most often used by craftsmen as a backup or travel option. To apply shellac on your legs at home, this is enough. In addition, such a lamp costs between 300-1000 rubles, which is not too expensive.
How long does it take to complete?
Any pedicure procedure depends on the skills of the specialist you contact, or on your own skills if you do the pedicure yourself. Also, the time of the procedure depends on the design you choose. Accordingly, monochrome nail finishes are done faster than complex designs with a moon pedicure or any other chosen style.

Shellac pedicure includes:
- steaming the feet in a foot bath;
- processing and removal of old skin;
- adjusting the length and shape of nails;
- coating of nail plates with primer and shellac;
- design creation.
Based on these parameters, the shellac pedicure procedure takes on average from 2 to 3 hours. If the legs are well-groomed and do not require much time for treatment, the procedure can last up to 1 hour. The neglected condition of the feet and nails increases this time to 3 or more hours.

Procedure options
It is impossible to imagine well-groomed legs without a neat pedicure.
Thanks to the rich range of colors offered by gel polish manufacturers, choosing and combining colors will be a pleasure for even the most demanding capricious people.
If it’s difficult to come up with a design yourself, photos of a shellac pedicure will always come to the rescue. All you have to do is point your finger at the picture to the master, and he will recreate it exactly on your feet.
As a rule, shellac coating is done by professionals in salons. Many craftsmen receive visitors at home.
There is another option - to carry out the procedure yourself, purchasing the necessary varnishes, tools and a lamp. What to choose, every woman decides for herself.
How long does it last?
Judging by the numerous reviews of this pedicure, the coating lasts for three weeks. Basically, correction is required when the toenails grow and the appearance of the pedicure becomes a little untidy.
The main thing is to follow the rules for applying shellac so that the coating is applied and dried evenly. Also, do not forget that in a French pedicure, for example, overgrown nails are not so visible, but if you go with an overgrown nail plate, this can have negative consequences:
- Injuries to the nail and/or nails;
- Chips;
- Bundles;
- Infection in the split nail plate.
That's why it's so important to take care of your feet and get a shellac pedicure on time.

The difference between shellac and gel polish
In fact, gel polish and shellac are the same coating, just called differently. There are differences between the compositions, but still not big.
If you delve into the history of the appearance of shellac, you can find information that the prototype was first created at the end of the 20th century. Companies such as NSI and OPI worked on its development. But at that time, shellac, as they say, “didn’t suit” fashionistas and all development of this project was closed.
FACT: In 2010, when the nail industry was in dire need of diversity, the founder of CND, a dental chemist by training, decided to continue the project of his colleagues and unexpectedly found himself at the pinnacle of success. The term “Shellac” is firmly attached to TM coatings from CND, which is why it is still called that way.
The quality of the material changes, other compositions and modifications appear, but in essence, shellac remains alone, and all other coatings of this type (for modeling and decorating nails) are just gel varnishes.
The main difference between shellac and gel polish is their composition. In addition, shellac does not necessarily require the use of a primer; it already fits well on the nails. Whereas for a manicure or pedicure with gel polish, a primer is required.
Shellac polish removal is also much easier to do than gel polish. This is much safer and more comfortable for many representatives of the fair sex.

Advantages and disadvantages
From the advantages, as described above, you can understand that shellac:
- does not require coating the nails with a primer (and this reduces the time for creating a pedicure and saves the budget);
- Removal procedures are much simpler and more convenient than gel polish;
- a large number of shades;
- possibility of nail modeling;
- strengthens nails that are prone to increased brittleness;
- practically hypoallergenic;
- long wearing time of the coating;
- non-fading shine;
- the ability to remove the coating yourself;
- used for nail extensions if part of the plate is damaged.
The disadvantages of shellac and gel polish are approximately the same. This:
- their price;
- exposure to UV lamps on skin and nails;
- noticeable regrowth of nails with colored coating;
- drying skin and nails after shellac remover.
Shellac has many more advantages than disadvantages, so it is still worth covering your nails with this composition, but do not forget that your nails need a break so that they have time to recover and take a break from colored varnishes.

Fashion trends and trends
Pedicures are available in both solid and colored finishes, with different designs to suit your taste. Pedicure shellac, like colored gel polish, allows the application of foil, rubbing and other elements over the coating.
@mirror_studio_rnd
Shellac is applied to the nails in the same way as gel polish is applied, only without using a base to adhere the nails and the coating, and then the nails are decorated with all sorts of ornaments.
@anitakorzun_nails
Fashion trends include holographic stickers and various mirror coatings that make the image truly bright and extravagant.
@vasilisa.nails.art
Design options in fashion trends do not depend on whether you have a trimmed pedicure, a European pedicure or a hardware pedicure.
The advantage of shellac is that it has a wide palette of shades, which means you can follow pedicure trends and create floral arrangements on your nails, which are so fashionable this season.
@personasalonkrasoty
What goes with it?
Regardless of what shade you decide to give preference to on your toes, the main thing is that they should be well-groomed. The most popular and classic are the French and red pedicure. They are perfect for both the warm season and the autumn-winter period. Despite the brightness and catchiness of red, it can fit perfectly into an office style, as it looks very restrained and luxurious. On the same level as scarlet is a burgundy shade, which looks no less attractive.
You can dilute any pedicure with the help of stones, ribbons, rubs and sparkles, but if you are a business woman, you should be especially careful with this. Other bright colors are not used too often on the legs as it becomes difficult to match the look. However, if you decide to go on vacation to the sea, you can easily cover your nails with bright yellow, blue and orange shades. A well-chosen design can combine many colors and accessories without looking pretentious or tasteless.
Dear women, what do you think is the most popular pedicure design this season? Can you make shellac yourself or do you turn to a professional for help? What finger colors do you prefer during the summer holidays?

#4 Pedicure with sliders: bright design for every day
Is it worth placing a design on the legs using sliders, stamping, etc.? Will they look appropriate and beautiful? It's all about moderation; choose small but clear patterns for your pedicure. They should be clearly visible on the nails and not merge into one continuous spot.
These patterns include:
- floristry – one large flower on the thumb or sliders with small wildflowers look beautiful
- fruits - looks especially beautiful in combination with yellow, red, blue tones. Use sliders with a white base; they will look better on your nails than transparent ones.
- animal themes - leopard, tiger, zebra patterns are trending. The design looks great in light colors with animal accents on 1-2 fingers.
