Oriental motifs on nails: unique manicure in Japanese style

Manicure in Oriental and Japanese style: current patterns and design

Speaking of oriental manicure, amazingly beautiful nail art with ornate bright patterns immediately comes to mind. This manicure catches your eye and looks amazingly beautiful and gentle. Among the popular patterns for oriental manicure are:

  • Sakura - typical for Japanese manicure
  • pagoda is a Japanese gazebo, which can be depicted in single-color nail art or in combination with sakura, hieroglyphs and other Japanese motifs
  • mehendi - beautiful patterns that visually resemble lace. Most often, mehendi is performed using stamping. It is not always possible to draw a beautiful pattern by hand, since the pattern is small and contains many details.
  • Turkish cucumber - an amazingly beautiful pattern, which is a pattern with a convex part and a narrowed end
  • anime - the pattern is typical for Japanese manicure
  • oriental motifs - bright and rich patterns with many small details characteristic of oriental textiles

An oriental-style manicure is an abundance of bright shades, which, despite their richness, look very beautiful and stylish. Manicure can be performed on both short and long nails.

How to make at home

Shellac

Shellac is a gel polish with a quick drying effect to preserve color for a long time. Gel polish does not damage the nail plate. To remove it, you don’t need to cut it down, unlike others.

To create a design with shellac, you need:

  1. Do a manicure, shape your nails with a nail file, and degrease.
  2. Apply a special base coat and dry it, but not completely.
  3. Degrease and roughen the surface of the nail.
  4. Apply shellac of the desired shade, dry it and stick on a stencil for the lunar design.
  5. Apply a different color to the hole in 2 layers and dry under a lamp.
  6. Finish the entire manicure with a sealer.

Simple varnish

Choose one color, do a manicure and shape your nails. Degrease the nail plate, apply a base in the form of a transparent varnish, and dry. Glue the stencil and apply the base color, leaving the hole colorless, dry thoroughly and cover with a finishing fixer.

#1 Japanese style manicure: sakura, pagoda, hieroglyphs

A manicure with sakura is an excellent solution for a spring and summer look. Sakura on nails looks much more interesting than the usual floristry. Even a person far from nail design can draw sakura. To do this, you can use dots and a manicure brush.

Sakura manicure is done in pink, crimson, red and other colors. To complement the design, you can use an image of a pagoda and hieroglyphs. To make these patterns, sliders or stamping are used. Sakura and other Japanese motifs look beautiful against a white or other light background. The design should be very delicate and feminine, like sakura itself, which is known to be a symbol of femininity and modesty.

How to apply painting on nails?

1. Standard preparation of nails for manicure. It is necessary to process the nails and give them the desired shape. Next, thoroughly treat each nail with an antiseptic and then wipe the surface with a paper napkin.

2. The next point is the selection of colors. It is important to decide on a design from the very beginning; you can even draw it on paper, so that you don’t have to hastily improvise later.

To draw flowers, one primary color will not be enough; you need to choose at least two shades of the same color: light and dark. Remember that the background of the picture, as well as the leaves and stems, must be combined with the shade of the flower.

3. Let's get straight to work. The first step is to apply the main color, the background color. As we have already said, you can use varnish, or you can use paint. Here, as they say, it’s a matter of taste and habit.

If you are confident in your abilities, then you can try to create not a monochromatic background, but a changing one. In this case, you can only use acrylic paints. The background will have to be applied with quick, light strokes of different colors, without waiting for the previous layer to dry, so that the applied paints merge and the boundaries between them are not noticeable. You need to use a large number of colors carefully, so that the background does not become oversaturated and ultimately overshadow the drawing.

4. And finally, the most interesting part is the most creative part of your work. Before you start painting, place paired paints on your palette. It is important that before starting work there are two colors on the palette at once, otherwise you risk seeing something completely different from what was planned on the nail.

How to place paints on a palette

There are several ways to place the necessary paints on the palette:

  1. Make two piles on the palette. To do this, you should take a flat brush and dip different ends of it into different colors. One corner is painted lightly, the other corner is painted dark. Next, you need to make three even, wide strokes on the palette in different directions, without turning the brush, thereby preventing the colors from mixing. As a result, the hairs of the brush will be saturated with paint and in the middle, between the dark and light corners, will mix, forming a new color. This way you get two different colors and a third that creates a transition between them.
  2. Two tracks. With this method, you need to draw two stripes of different colors on the palette, leaving a distance between them that is slightly wider in width than these stripes. Typically, masters use just this method, because it is believed that with this arrangement it will be easier to work with a flat brush, which is considered the main one in this painting technique.

So, finally, everything is in place and you can make the first strokes. To do this, you just need to place the brush on the surface of the nail, press it, rotate it around its axis and complete the action by returning to the beginning. And now the first petal is in front of you!

How to draw poppies - master class

In this work, you can and should experiment, because with different angles of inclination and rotation, a new pattern will be obtained. You will have to create many, many more petals, and in the end you will master this technique perfectly and know exactly how to draw exactly the petal you need.

Don't be afraid that at first the drawings will be slightly different from each other; over time you will learn to control the brush.

Some nail technicians advise starting with a piece of paper to get a feel for the brush before you have to work on the nail. Others, on the contrary, believe that you need to work directly with the nails, because their surface is very different from paper.

Where to start learning is up to you. The main thing is to understand from the very beginning that this manicure technique requires patience and painstakingness from its performer.

#2 Manicure with Turkish motifs

Turkish motifs are amazingly beautiful and unique. They exude enchanting beauty and captivation. Turkish style manicure is usually done in bright colors. The simplest and most gorgeous-looking design is the Turkish cucumber. You can see an example of a manicure with such patterns in the photo below.

In addition to bright shades, silver and gold tones predominate in Turkish manicure. Stamping patterns look gorgeous on a blue or white background. It is worth considering that Turkish motifs look quite voluminous on nails, so vary the size of the design depending on the length and width of the nail plate.

Manicure with Turkish motifs is easy to do yourself using stamping. Buy a special plate with oriental patterns and make patterns on a plain or gradient background.

Useful tips

The nail shape and length do not matter for this type of manicure. But there is one feature - the skin around the nails and the condition of the hands play a huge role in its creation.

If the cuticle or skin is unkempt, then the manicure does not convey all its beauty, but on the contrary, ages the hands.

The most effective design looks on short nails with a rectangular or square shape.

Top color combinations:

  • black – gold or silver, red, white, colorless;
  • beige-coffee;
  • red-white;
  • pink-blue;
  • white–gold;
  • yellow-black or white.

Nail painting can be done in three colors with different accessories: beads, rhinestones, metal ribbons. Varnishes in natural tones give a natural look: peach, beige, coffee with milk. It is performed with ordinary varnishes, gel polish, shellac.

#3 Manicure with mehendi patterns

Mehendi is body painting using henna. The tradition of painting the body with ornate patterns originated in Arab countries, India, Malaysia, and Indonesia. Currently, mehendi patterns are spreading among women in America and European countries. Classic patterns are modified, compositions characteristic of certain countries are added to them.

If you like mehendi patterns, but you are still hesitant to depict them on your body, then try doing a manicure with these interesting and graceful patterns. Mehendi painting can be done either with manicure brushes or using stamping. The latter option is more preferable, as it allows you to create a clear and detailed pattern without errors.

In mehendi manicure, cream, gray, pink tones predominate as the background and black color for the design. A mehendi manicure looks great with silver and gold glitter, which is used to highlight one of the nails. A manicure in black and white looks great. This design will be especially noticeable on a white background and will look restrained and laconic, despite the unusual pattern.

Fashion 2018-2019

Global fashion trends are increasingly using various materials for nail decoration, and 2018-2019 is no exception. Various types of foil are widely used. The color scheme is close to natural colors: pastel or coffee with milk.

Applying manicures in the form of geometric shapes and antique designs remains relevant. Short rectangular nails remain a very convenient and fashionable shape. At fashion shows, music awards, and film festivals, you can see world-famous stars who also use the moon style for their nails.

More and more fashionistas prefer to perform manicures in the lunar version, but with an original design, using incredible accessories. And thanks to the fact that the materials for the implementation are available to everyone for sale, it has become convenient to do manicure with holes at home.

#4 Japanese style manicure with anime

Anime is Japanese animation, which is mostly aimed at teenage and adult audiences. Anime cartoons are bright and realistic works that can be compared to real cinema. It is not surprising that anime designs often appear on the nails of fashionistas.

A manicure with anime patterns looks better if it is done using artistic painting. Finding sliders with anime designs is quite difficult, but if you come across one, you will buy it without a doubt. Such patterns look quite bright and expressive on nails. Sliders with anime characters will come in handy if you prefer interesting and noticeable nail art.

On the nails of fashionistas, a manicure with cute faces, inscriptions, hieroglyphs and other Japanese motifs looks beautiful. For a teenage audience, we can offer a design with Totoro, the hero of the famous cartoon of the same name.

How to fix an overgrown manicure

An overgrown moon manicure is an unpleasant sight. The nail is exposed from the cuticle side, leaving a hole. When using regular polish, the nail becomes bare after 3-5 days. When using gel polish - 4-5 weeks, shellac - 5-6 weeks.

Correction can be carried out in several ways:

  1. The first involves a complete change of image, when the gel polish or shellac is completely removed and the design is made anew.
  2. The second correction method is carried out when the main part of the nail does not have significant damage, but the nail has grown quickly and does not look aesthetically pleasing. Therefore, the free space of the hole is filled again according to the same principle. The cuticle is removed, the nail is degreased, a base is applied, dried and filled with a certain color, again thoroughly dried and covered with a fixative.

#5 Oriental manicure with dream catchers

A dream catcher is an Indian amulet that, according to legend, protects the sleeper from evil spirits and diseases. Modern girls rarely think about the meaning of the image; they prefer ornate patterns and interesting weaves of threads.

You can draw a dream catcher using a thin manicure brush, stamping or sliders. Nail art with sliders looks especially beautiful and delicate. They most often contain additional elements such as feathers and inscriptions.

An oriental style manicure is an amazingly beautiful and interesting solution for an everyday and business look. The design on your nails is radically different from the usual floral and geometric nail art, so it will definitely draw the attention of your friends to your unusual manicure.

The benefits of lunar manicure and the history of its creation

Surely, any of the fair sex is familiar with this type of nail design. Lunar manicure in 2022 can be done not only in any beauty salon, but also at home. Moreover, some girls paint their nails themselves in the French updated style. Lunar classics involve the use of two varnishes of different colors, pastel or bright, as well as stencils in the shape of a circle. The crescent on the inner edge of the nail plate is covered with white or another light tone, but there are other colorful variations of the moon.

Lunar design will soon be 100 years old! If it weren’t for the fashion designers of the French company Dior, nail art would have been forgotten long ago, but with their help, lunar manicure, both for short and long nails, remains in demand even today. World-class stars turn to specialists for manicures with crescent moons on their nails and confidently walk the red carpet with it, for example, the most famous burlesque dancer, Dita Von Teese.

Modern girls are very lucky. Back in the 20s of the last century, the nail plate was painted bright red, drawing white crescents at the base, and today specialists do not limit your ideas and are ready to create any design at your discretion. Clients with square-shaped nails look especially elegant. Lunar manicure and French manicure are a win-win combination. Unleash your imagination! Use any colors, combinations, decorative elements and get an absolutely stunning result.

Do you love classic style? Take two varnishes - one covers the entire nail plate (beige, pink or light coffee shade is recommended), and the other covers the outer and inner edges. It is also possible to use sparkles, but be careful - one rhinestone on the ring finger is enough, because you should stick to minimalism.

Masters delight us with more and more creative options - they change the shape of the moon beyond recognition, creating curved lines, geometric and floral patterns. To prevent the manicure from looking vulgar, a bright coating is alternated with a monochrome one.

The design of the moon manicure is universal and will suit any outfit at any time of the year. This is one of the main reasons why fashionistas choose it. And because of the many ideas in the master’s arsenal, nail art does not become boring and always looks fresh and unusual.

Nail art has other benefits:

  • after growing, the nails still look neat, which other techniques cannot guarantee;
  • there are different variations in the lunar style;
  • the design with holes will suit any dress code, it does not oblige you to anything;
  • You can easily make a fashionable manicure at home.

Among the nail art options, there are those that are suitable for both everyday life and special occasions.
