It seems that we had only recently learned to work with acrylic, when suddenly a fresh, interesting material appeared on the market. It is called fiberglass for nail extensions (FiberGlass). Once again, masters have to master new techniques. Its main advantage is saving time. According to many bloggers who have already been the first to try this new product, working with fiberglass is quick, convenient and pleasant. In addition, the nails turn out very thin and neat. However, there is also a minus. Fiberglass is attached only to the natural nail and essentially continues its natural shape. Therefore, there is no need to talk about any correction and modeling of the appearance of the nail plate. Extended nails will have your natural shape, only they will become longer. Therefore, this technique is suitable for girls with initially beautiful, but not very long nails.
How to increase?
We prepare the nails: we work with the cuticle, file it (leaving a little free edge), roughen the surface and degrease it. Prepare the material for extensions: cut the tape into pieces and lightly roll it out with an orange stick. The width of the canvas should approximately coincide with the width of the nail plate. Next, cover the nails with primer and base. Then comes a thin layer of gel or thick base, onto which the fiber will be attached. Next, we take a fiberglass blank with tweezers, place it just above the side ingrowth points of the nail plate (i.e., the beginning of attaching the fiberglass plate should be the middle of the nail), lightly embed the fibers into the gel and before drying, carefully seal the ends of the fibers on the nail with the gel. Next, cut off the excess and align the nail plate from above and below. In this case, the brush should be parallel to the nail, literally “lying” on it.

How to make stones on your nails?
Let's start with the basics. Cover the nails with camouflage or translucent gel polish in one layer. Next, duplicate the layer, but do not dry it. Using a thin brush, we paint veins on it with gel paint in the form of a marbled texture. Next we dry it and start working directly with the stones. Take a transparent plastic envelope. The material needs to be flexible, but elastic. Envelopes from under a roll of self-adhesive strips for manicure may be suitable. Cut out a diamond shape according to the shape of the nail. How to extend nails
For gel extensions, LED gels, UF gels and biogels are used. They can be single-, two- and three-phase:
- Novice masters most often choose single-phase systems; they can replace several tools at once in function: they are responsible for attaching an artificial nail to a natural one, and also allow you to model the shape;
- two-phase systems imply the use of 2 types of gel: the first - ensures the strength of fastening of the material to the nail plate, the second - allows you to model the shape;
- “three-phase” products provide 3 effects at once: reliable adhesion of the nail and the material, the ability to model the shape, protect the nail from external factors and ensure the smoothness of its surface.
New products appear regularly in the nail industry. Nevertheless, there are 2 basic technologies for nail extensions that have been used for many years: with tips and with forms. We will describe the features of each of them below.
On tips
It is believed that this technology is simpler than extensions using forms, so beginners often start working with it. Tips are thin plates that follow the shape of the nail. They are glued onto a natural nail, and the surface is smoothed with gel. After the material has hardened, the nails are filed, for example, making them a beautiful almond shape. Important! Tips are glued to short nails. If necessary, they are cut down to zero so that the free edge of the natural nail is not visible under the tip.
Tips are sold in sets and have different sizes, specific for each nail. If necessary, the length of the overlays can be adjusted using special tools - type cutters and files.
On forms
The technology of extension on forms has 2 varieties: using upper and lower forms. Most often, masters use the second option.
The lower shapes look like stickers with markings and a semicircular cutout. After manicure is done, they are glued under the nail plate, and gel is laid on top, forming an artificial nail. After polymerization in the lamp, the gel hardens, and the master can give the artificial nail the intended shape and size.
The upper forms are plates with recesses into which the gel is placed. After transferring the upper form with the material onto the nail, it is placed in a lamp until the material hardens. After this, the form can be easily removed from the nail. Another layer of gel is applied on top, thereby leveling the nail plate. After drying, all that remains is to give the artificial nails a neat look using a file and complete the nail design.

This gel paint has quickly become one of the most popular nail trends today. Cobweb is a wonderful express design for beginning craftsmen. It does not cause any difficulties in operation, except that the side ridges and the skin around the nail need to be treated with a nail protector skin. To apply the web as close as possible to the side rollers, you need to squeeze them on both sides during application and pull them down. Nowadays, various textures on nails are in fashion. They are performed on a wet layer. Mix several colors of gel polish directly on the nails and brush over the undried layer, resulting in multi-colored abstractions. If desired, you can add silver in the form of sparkles or foil, and also complement the resulting pattern with metal decor or cobwebs. There is another interesting way to create textures on your nails in the form of stones, waves or smoke.
Beautiful pattern when wet
We make the basis for the design in the form of a white or very light background. Place a drop of colored bright gel polish on the palette. In its center is another one, only of a different shade. Then we repeat the same with the third color. Next, take a needle and mix the shades. Apply the resulting mixture onto a flat brush. The paint should lie on top of the brush, i.e. it needs to be lifted with the brush, like a “spatula”. Next, place the brush on the nail so that the paint is still on top and move the brush along the nail with a smooth movement. When the ornament is transferred, we leave it in the lamp to dry.
